We are excited about school starting and getting the students back in the classrooms! As you are aware, school starts early this year on August 24th, 2016 thanks to a waiver our ISD received from the Michigan Department of Education back in May. As the summer closes we are still working on some bond projects. Our electronic message sign in front of the school has been designed and will be operational shortly after the start of the school year. We have new bleachers and a scoreboard at the football field, as well as some field events for track being moved for better organization of practices and meets. We will also be a 1 to 1 school this year for technology. That means that all of our students k-12 will have access to their own personal technology device. We have been 1 to 1 in the elementary for two years now using I-Pads. Every 5th grader through 12th grader will have access to a Chromebook this year. Our technology department has been working hard to get the needed wireless infrastructure and all of the devices ready. The project is scheduled to be complete by early October.
Again, just an update on hours. The doors will open at all buildings at 8:20 AM. At 8:30 AM, the doors will be locked and anyone wishing to enter will be buzzed into the office. School ends at 3:10. We ask that parents try to not pick up their students early, unless it is an emergency, due to the congestion it will cause in the offices. The last half hour of school is an extremely busy time for the office.
I would like to welcome all parents/guardians to our open house on August 23rd from 6:00 – 7:00 PM. We are also rolling out our mascot this year, and he will be present at many home athletic events, as well as school functions. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable end to summer!
